I Love Barrhaven event portion cancelled; regular farmers' market still listed

The Barrhaven BIA has updated its I Love Barrhaven Market page to say the event portion - including BIA giveaways, artisan vendors, bouncy castles, entertainment and related extras - is cancelled due to weather. The same update says the regular Ottawa Farmers' Market is still operating at Nepean Woods Park & Ride, so residents should check the official market and BIA pages before heading out.

Highway 417 overnight work near Pinecrest aims to reopen lanes June 22

The City of Ottawa says weather permitting, overnight work on Highway 417 between Woodroffe Avenue and Pinecrest Road is scheduled for June 20 and 21 to speed centre-median construction and reopen all eastbound and westbound lanes by 5 a.m. on Monday, June 22. Westbound lane and ramp closures are planned Saturday night, followed by eastbound lane and ramp closures Sunday night; drivers using Woodroffe, Pinecrest/Greenbank and nearby 417 ramps should plan for impacts.

Barnsdale Road EA consultation opens online June 23

The City’s Barnsdale Road Environmental Assessment study will post online materials and a feedback survey from June 23 to July 10. The study covers Barnsdale Road between Highway 416 and Prince of Wales Drive and will look at future improvements, including possible widening to four lanes as development grows along the corridor.

OC Transpo flags Route 75 among return-to-office capacity checks

OC Transpo told Transit Committee it is checking federal return-to-office data to see where more capacity may be needed, including on Route 75, a key Barrhaven/South Nepean connection, and Route 74. The update also says OC Transpo expects 50 per cent of riders to see reliability improvements by the fall after schedule run-time changes and continued bus-fleet maintenance.

City sets south-end truck route study drop-ins, including Barrhaven session

Greenbank transformer station enters 30-day public review

Council approves transit reliability measures, including Para Transpo evening pilot

Ottawa Council directed staff to buy two six-metre Para Transpo buses, pilot two extra hours of Para Transpo service on Friday and Saturday evenings, hold free familiarization weekends, buy two articulated buses, install heat tracing on Line 1 overhead wires and deploy councillor-requested transit-priority measures. The City says the interim funding will come from transit reserves while it seeks to recover costs from Rideau Transit Group.

Highway 417 work may slow eastbound commuters between Carling and Rochester

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario says noise-barrier and highway-improvement work on Highway 417 eastbound between Carling Avenue and the Rochester Avenue off-ramp will continue until late summer. The rightmost eastbound lane is closed through the work zone, ramps around the work may close nightly as needed, and the westbound Lyon Street on-ramp is closed until July 31; drivers should plan for congestion and delays.

Lalande Conservation Park temporarily closed after reported coyote incident

The City of Ottawa says Lalande Conservation Park is temporarily closed effective Tuesday, June 9 after a reported incident involving coyotes in the area. The City says it is coordinating with provincial authorities, wildlife experts and partner agencies, installing trail cameras, and asking residents to avoid the park and surrounding greenspace until operations are complete. Residents are reminded not to shoot, trap or approach coyotes; concerning behaviour can be reported to 3-1-1, while an immediate threat should go to 9-1-1.

Baseline and Greenbank transit-priority work continues through summer

City invites venues to apply for extended service hours for Ottawa 200 celebrations
