City asks storm-affected residents to log waste and flooding service requests

The City of Ottawa says residents still dealing with impacts from the July 1 extreme-weather event should report them through 3-1-1 or the City's online service-request forms so staff can route available resources and understand the storm's impact. For residents outside the hardest-hit wards 4, 7, 8 and 9, storm-related extra waste should be reported as a garbage-collection service request with "storm-related waste" selected as the issue; flooded basements should be reported through a separate basement-flooding request. The City says separate requests are needed if a household has both waste and basement flooding, because different City teams respond, and storm-related waste is collected by separate garbage trucks rather than regular waste trucks.
