Colonel By Day falls on Monday, August 3, and it moves several City services in Barrhaven, Stonebridge, Half Moon Bay and South Nepean. Waste: the City says there is no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Monday, August 3. That pickup happens Tuesday, August 4, and collection stays one day late for the rest of the week, with Saturday making up the missed day. Multi-residential garbage containers and bulky items are collected on their regular scheduled day, including on the holiday, while multi-residential recycling containers and green bins are delayed by one day for the rest of the week. Transit: OC Transpo runs a Saturday schedule with enhanced service during peak periods on routes 8, 25, 63 and 74, the Barrhaven route. Route 13 runs a normal weekday schedule, night routes N39, N45, N61, N75 and N105 are extended to start at 1 a.m., and O-Train Line 1 runs a reduced schedule from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. with peak service every six minutes. Two riders 19 and older can travel all day on the 2-for-1 DayPass for $12.25, and riders aged 11 to 18 ride free until August 31. Para Transpo regular and recurring bookings for August 3 are cancelled automatically, and the reservations line is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 613-560-5000. Library: every Ottawa Public Library branch is closed Monday, August 3, including Ruth E. Dickinson, with regular hours back Tuesday, August 4. Recreation, from the City's own facility pages: Minto Recreation Complex Barrhaven is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lane swim and preschool swim 8 to 11 a.m., public swim 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the weight and cardio room 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walter Baker Sports Centre is closed and all its programs are cancelled. Nepean Sportsplex runs its Aquatics Centre 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and its Athletics Centre 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The City says holiday schedules can change, so check the facility page for the place you are going. Also on the day: 3-1-1 takes urgent matters only, ServiceOttawa client service counters and phone lines are closed, and beaches, outdoor pools, splash pads and wading pools stay open with lifeguards on duty at the beaches and outdoor pools.
