Tuesday, June 30
- 8th Annual Classic Car Show: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clarke Fields.
- Country Music Fest: 1:15 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.; the posted lineup includes The Rockphiles, The Barn Burners, Almost Country, and The Derringers.
Wednesday, July 1
- Seniors' Breakfast: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Kidz Zone, Kidz Zone Craft, and Velocity Games: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Multicultural food vendors: through the day.
- Main stage: Multicultural Show at noon, opening ceremony at 4 p.m., ceremonial parade of flags and national anthem, speeches from local dignitaries, Monkey Rock Music, Nayana, a 50/50 draw, and Eddy & the Stingrays.
- Fireworks at 10 p.m.
Getting there: shuttle, OC Transpo, bikes and parking
- Organizer shuttle: Canada Day Barrhaven says shuttles run July 1 only from Heart & Crown Barrhaven and Your Independent Grocer. Departures from both locations are listed for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with return arrivals listed until 11 p.m.; the last bus leaves both pickup points at 9 p.m. The organizer asks for a small round-trip donation of $2 per person or $5 per family.
- OC Transpo: The organizer says Clarke Fields is served by route 70, using stops 1230 and 1231 at Tartan and Houlahan. OC Transpo says buses, trains and Para Transpo are free on Canada Day, starting at 3 a.m. July 1 and ending at 3 a.m. July 2, with a special schedule and extra service on busy routes.
- Parking and roads: The organizer lists no-parking zones on Borrisokane, Strandherd, Tartan and Houlahan near the site, plus a fireworks-period closure of Strandherd from Borrisokane to Maravista from 9:45 p.m. until the fireworks are complete. Very limited accessible parking is listed for wheelchair users. A free secured bike lock-up is available on site.
What's open on Canada Day?
July 1 is a statutory holiday, so plan ahead. Government offices and banks are generally closed, and City of Ottawa curbside green-bin, recycling, garbage and bulky-item pickup moves by one day for the rest of the week.
