An SUV crashed through the front window of the Scotiabank at 655 Earl Armstrong Road in Riverside South on Thursday evening, Ottawa Fire Services said in an account reported by CityNews Ottawa. Firefighters were called shortly after 6 p.m. for possible structural damage and found the vehicle a few feet inside the building.

CityNews Ottawa reported that the woman driving the SUV was out of the vehicle before emergency responders arrived. Paramedics took her to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries; they told the outlet the collision appeared to follow a medical episode.

Firefighters checked the building for other injuries, shut off the gas supply as a precaution because of the nearby meter, and found no damage to load-bearing walls or main supports, according to the report. Ottawa police are investigating.
