Two City committees approved a three-year pilot Extreme Weather Preparedness Grant Program that would put $1 million toward neighbourhood-level preparedness. If Council approves it June 24, eligible non-profits, community associations and local groups could receive up to $50,000 per year for projects such as emergency plans, volunteer training, public awareness and shared equipment including generators, radios, shelter and cooling or warming supplies.
