The City of Ottawa says it is opening some facilities on Canada Day to give residents respite from hot and humid conditions. Ottawa City Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Ben Franklin Place from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the recreation-centre list includes Nepean Sportsplex, CARDELREC Recreation Complex Goulbourn and several other City sites, with hours varying by facility. The City also points residents to splash pads, wading pools, beaches and outdoor pools, and asks people to check ottawa.ca before heading out.
