Ottawa Police say a seller meeting a prospective Facebook Marketplace buyer outside a financial institution in the 1100 block of Beaverwood Road in Manotick was allegedly the target of an attempted robbery around 10:30 a.m. on August 10. Police say a young offender pointed a firearm and two shots were fired. No one was struck, the victim sustained minor injuries, a firearm was recovered, and the investigation continues.
Manotick is outside the Bugle's core coverage area, but the police guidance is useful to Barrhaven households that buy and sell online. Ottawa Police ask residents to consider using its Safe Trade Zones, designated parking spaces at select police facilities, for in-person online-marketplace transactions. The service links to its locations and safety tips from the release.
