Legion Branch 641 plans veteran memorial banners along Malvern and Sherway this October

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 641 is launching a Veteran Memorial Banner Program, according to a Barrhaven BIA post published August 6. The BIA says that beginning in mid-October, up to 30 memorial banners will run from Malvern Drive and Sherway Drive, past John McCrae Secondary School, toward Fable Street in front of the Remembrance Memorial.

Each banner costs $250, the BIA says, a price that covers production, installation and removal. The post states the banners will be cleaned and returned to the veteran or the family after the display period ends in mid-November, so a family keeps the banner once it comes down.

The BIA also says Branch 641 has more than 750 members and is working toward a permanent clubhouse. Families who want to know how to submit a veteran's name, or what the deadline is, should contact the branch directly: those details are not in the BIA post.
