Citizen reports Islamophobia concerns in Nepean after Craig Henry stabbing

The Ottawa Citizen reported on August 2, 2026 that online hate comments directed at Muslims and newcomers followed the July 23 stabbing of a man in Craig Henry Park. The Citizen reported that a community association vice-president said the concern in the neighbourhood after the incident was Islamophobia, rather than fear for the area's safety.

The Citizen also reported that Knoxdale-Merivale Councillor Sean Devine had seen anti-immigrant comments, incorrect information, and posts naming people involved, and that he turned off comments on several posts.
