The City of Ottawa says residents affected by the July 1 storm and heavy rainfall can set out extra storm-related materials beyond the regular three-item garbage limit, with pickup either on the regular collection day or through a separate storm-dedicated collection depending on resources. The City says storm-affected residents may set out textile floor coverings in compact tied bundles and up to two containers of storm-related construction and demolition waste; larger construction loads should go through insurance or a contractor. Residents who have submitted a flooded-basement or storm-related-waste service request can bring eligible material to the Trail Waste Facility Landfill free of charge with the service-request number, photo ID and proof of address; household hazardous waste and e-waste are not accepted at the curb.
